Rifle team beat Nebraska, fell to West Virginia

Finished third in the country
U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team beat Nebraska 4696-4660, but lost to West Virginia (4712) in Morgantown, W.Va. on Sunday, Oct. 21. Following all teams competing around the country, Air Force dropped to third in the nation. West Virginia moved up to No. 1 with a team average 4702.50, Kentucky dropped to No. 2 (4702). Air Force has a team average of 4700.667.
In the match, freshman Casper Schadler was the Falcons' top shooter in air rifle with a 595. Schadler advanced to the finals and finished just .9 points behind WVU's Ginny Thrasher, Olympic gold medalist, with a 248.9. He had a 562 in smallbore and finished with an aggregate 1157.
Junior Logan Ogden was the Falcons next highest scorer in air rifle with a 589. He finished with a 578 in smallbore and had an aggregate 1171. Freshman Peter Fiori followed with a 589 in air rifle and 580 in smallbore, he finished the day with an 1169. Senior Spencer Cap finished with an 1165, scoring 580 in smallbore and 585 in air rifle. Senior Anna Weilbacher had the team's highest score for smallbore with a 584 and scored a 587 in air rifle, and finished with an 1171.
In smallbore the team finished with a 2322, and 2364 in air rifle. Air Force is now 4-1 for the season.
The rifle team will be in Annapolis, Md., on Nov. 3 for the President's Trophy Match against sister academies, Navy, Army West Point and the U.S. Coast Guard.
