Air Force Stunned At Wyoming In 35-27 Loss

Three touchdowns with less than five minutes left in the game rallied Wyoming to a 35-27 win over Air Force on a snowy Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium.  The setback dropped the Falcons to 4-7 on the season.

The Falcons could not hold a 27-14 lead as the Cowboys (5-6) mounted the furious late-game rally.

Wyoming began its rally by scoring a rushing touchdown with 4:32 to go to pull to within six.  Air Force was forced to punt after going three-and-out on the ensuing drive.

The Cowboys then marched right back down the field and took the lead on a 22 yard pass by Tyler Vander Waal to Austin Conway with 1:09 to play.  After an interception by Air Force, Wyoming tacked on an insurance touchdown with 45 seconds left to play.

It was a stunning turnaround after the Falcons dominated the second and third quarters.  Air Force ran for 362 yards and held the ball for 38 minutes in the game.  Kadin Rembserg ran for a game-high 128 yards to lead Air Force.  Fullback Cole Fagan added 116 yards and a touchdown.  Quarterback DJ Hammond III also rushed for 90 yards and two touchdown runs.

Air Force and Wyoming traded touchdowns on each team's opening drives.  Air Force got on the board on a one-yard Hammond run.  The Cowboys added a second touchdown in the first quarter to go up 14-7.

Air Force's defense clamped down on the Wyoming offense posting shutouts in the second and third quarters.  The Falcons scored 20 unanswered points to take the 27-14 lead.

Fagan punched one in from four yards out to tie the game in the second quarter.  A 27 yard field goal by Jake Koehkne put the Falcon ahead with 1:50 to play in the second.

Hammond scampered 36 yards for a touchdown in the opening drive of the third quarter and Koehnke made a 21 yard field goal to give the Falcons the 27-14 lead with 8:44 to go in the fourth.

Jeremey Fejedelem led the Falcon defense with 12 tackles.

Air Force wraps up the season on Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 22, hosting Colorado State.  Kickoff is 1:30 pm MT.
