Rifle sweeps service academy match

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – The 5^th-ranked Air Force rifle team capped off another trophy win, sweeping the President's Trophy Match against service academy rivals, Navy, Army West Point and the U.S. Coast Guard. On Saturday, Nov. 3, Air Force outscored Navy by 28 points. Air Force scored 5856 points to Navy's 5828. Army followed with a 5803, and the Coast Guard finished with a 5677.

Freshman Peter Fiori was the top finisher with an aggregate score of 1176. He scored 584 points in smallbore and a 592 in the air rifle. Senior Anna Weilbacher was the Falcons' next highest scorer with a 583 smallbore and 592 in air rifle, finishing with an aggregate 1174. Sophomore Sarah Sawicki scored a season best in smallbore with a 579, she finished with a 588 in air rifle (1167).

The next highest finisher for the team was sophomore Nate Peterson. Peterson scored a season best in smallbore (580) and finished with a 586 in air rifle (1166). Junior Logan Ogden scored a 574 in smallbore and a 590 in the air rifle, finishing with an aggregate 1164.

This is the fifth-straight win for Air Force in the President's Trophy Match. Air Force is now 37-22 versus the service academies.

NCAA team scoring: Air Force (4687), Navy (4665), Army (4662), and U.S. Coast Guard (4559). In the match, Air Force scored 2330 in smallbore, and finished with a 2357 in the air rifle.

Air Force travels to Lexington, Va., for a match with the Virginia Military Institute on Sunday, Nov. 4. Air Force is now 7-1 on the season.
