Randy Meneweather Named Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week

IRVING, Texas -- Air Force senior wrestler Randy Meneweather has been named the Big 12 Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday, Nov. 5. Meneweather shares the award with Fresno State's Jacob Wright. It is the first weekly award of his career.

Meneweather won the elite 165 lbs. title at the Cowboy Open, going a perfect 5-0 with four pins. His first three matches were won by fall in 0:19, 2:27, and then 4:01. In the semifinals, he won by 9-4 decision over Cole Moody of Wyoming. Then in the finals he got back to pinning, wrapping up the title with a fall in just 1:12.

The four falls are just three away from his career-best mark for pins in a season. Meneweather is competing at 165 lbs. after wrestling as the primary starter at 174 lbs. last season. In 2018-19, Meneweather was fourth on the team with 16 total wins, including second with six pins.

Air Force is back in action this weekend as they head east to compete in the Mountaineer Invitational. Action in Boone, N.C. begins at 9 a.m. ET and will run throughout the day.
