The Falcons had a trio of tight match defeats
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Air Force Academy wrestling team was shut out by No. 2 Oklahoma State, 39-0, in Big 12 dual action Friday evening, Feb. 8, at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys (13-0, 8-0 Big 12) used the firepower of seven top-12 tanked wrestlers to run away with the victory.
Air Force (4-5, 1-4 Big 12) had a trio of tight matches that came down to the final minutes. Starting the day, sophomore Jacoby Ward fell to No. 10 Chandler Rogers by a 6-4 decision, as he gave up a late takedown to seal the match. Following that, junior Randy Meneweather had a close bout, falling by 4-3 decision.
One match later, redshirt senior co-captain Anthony McLaughlin was just edged out by former All-American Preston Weigel after giving up an escape and being ridden out in the third.
After that, the Cowboys won five out of the last six via bonus points to run away with the win.
Air Force will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 10, for a non-conference dual meet against Cal Poly. Action in California is set for 2 p.m. MT.
