Air Force Concludes USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals with Five All-Americans, Pair of National Champions

Anna Salamone and Tyler Davis of Air Force women’s gymnastics earned top finishes in the uneven bars and floor exercise, respectively
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Air Force women's gymnastics team concluded action the 2019 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals with five All-Americans earning 11 accolades, and a pair of individual national champions in junior Anna Salamone and sophomore Tyler Davis, Sunday afternoon at the University of Bridgeport.
Davis, a 2018 USAG National Champion in the floor exercise, garnered her second title in the event in as many tries as the Rowlett, Texas, native posted a 9.95 for a true-first finish, tying her personal-best mark for the second time this weekend and third time this season. Davis' efforts yielded three USAG Collegiate National First-Team All-American accolades in the vault, floor exercise and all-around, marking her second time in as many seasons to earn the honors in those events. Davis was also credited with a Second-Team All-America nod on the uneven bars. She has seven USAG All-American accolades to date. Davis also posted a second-place finish in the all-around event with a 39.125 mark.
Salamone won her first-ever USAG Collegiate Nationals title as she posted a 9.85 to tie for first-place on the uneven bars. Salamone, the Academy's record holder in the event, earned All-America status on the bars and vault over the weekend, marking her third-straight season earning All-American honors on the bars and first-ever on the vault. She finished third on the vault in the induvial events portion, scoring a 9.7625.
Freshman standout Daija Stevenson put on a stellar performance over the weekend, earning three All-America accolades on the vault, uneven bars and balance beam. In the individual events sessions, Stevenson recorded a 9.6625 on the vault for a seventh-place finish, and a ninth-place finish on the bars with a 9.700 mark.
Senior balance beam specialist Emily Luers earned her second career All-American nod on the beam. She finished the individual event portion with a 9.800 for an eighth-place finish. Sophomore vault specialist Heidi Sand garnered her first-ever USAG All-America nod over the weekend as she posted a 9.725 and a 9.825 in the event in the team sessions.
The conclusion of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals marks the end of the 2019 women's gymnastics campaign. The team will reconvene for the annual awards banquet this spring.
