Air Force Men’s Tennis Falls 4-3 To New Mexico

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis dropped a 4-3 dual to New Mexico in Mountain West action on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Gym Indoor tennis courts. The Falcons capped the regular season with a 12-12 record.
Air Force took an early lead by securing the doubles point with a pair of wins. Tadhg Collins and Patrick Sklenka defeated Ricky Hernandez-Tong/Stephan Holis 6-2 at No. 1 and Isaac Perez and Mack Galvin defeated Nicolas Prieto/Tim Buttner 6-4 at No. 3 for the doubles point.
The teams exchanged wins to start singles. Mack Galvin fell at No. 5 singles to Facundo Bermejo 6-2, 6-1. Sklenka then defeated Hernandez-Tong in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
The two teams then exchanged wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Paul Hendrix fell at No. 3 to Holis 6-4, 6-1. Robert Baylon then defeated Prieto at No. 6 in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
The Falcons were unable to hold on to the 3-2 lead, as the Lobos rallied with wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Luke Sanderson dropped his match at No. 2 to Dominic West, 6-2, 6-1. Tadhg Collins fell at No. 4 to Buttner 7-6 (4), 6-4.
Air Force honored its seniors as part of senior day festivities. Tadhg Collins, Austin Gula, Isaac Perez and Luke Sanderson comprise the graduating class of 2019.
Air Force now awaits its seeding for the 2019 Mountain West Men's Tennis Championships, which takes place April 25-28 in Fresno, Calif.
