Garrett O'Shea Named NWCA Academic All-American

The junior is one of 142 DI wrestlers named to the team
MANHEIM, Pa. – Junior wrestler Garrett O'Shea was named to the 2019 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Academic All-American Team the organization announced Thursday, April 25. O'Shea is one of 142 Division I wrestlers to be recognized for both their athletic and academic accomplishments this past season.
O'Shea is the fifth Falcon wrestler to be recognized as an Academic All-American all-time. He adds this honor after being named to the Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling First Team earlier this year for the second time in his career.
To be honored as an Academic All-American, wrestlers must have competed in 50% or more of the squad's varsity meets, while attaining a high winning percentage, as well as maintaining a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher. O'Shea has a 3.60 GPA majoring in operations research. This past year, he went 18-13 on the season at 141 lbs., including 6-3 in duals and 4-3 in conference. He also took home the 141 lbs. title at the All Academy Championships.
