The Falcons will face Army West Point and Navy in New York on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force cross country team will kick off its season Wednesday, Nov. 11, when it travels to West Point, N.Y., to face its counterparts from Army West Point and Navy in the first-ever triangular meet between the three service academies.
The meet, dubbed 'America's Race', and presented by USAA, will take place on the parade grounds of the historic West Point Plain – becoming the first major athletic event to be held on The Plain since 1924. Due to location restrictions, spectators are not permitted and attendance will be limited to Army's Corps of Cadets.
The women will open the inaugural service academy championship with a 6K race at 2:30 p.m. (ET), while the men will follow with an 8K event one hour later. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.
"We're extremely excited for the service academy cross country championships," head coach Ryan Cole said. "To compete against the other service academies at a historic site – and on Veteran's Day – makes this such a unique event. In a fall season where we just have one race, I couldn't imagine a better opportunity. We're honored to join the Naval Academy and Army West Point for this event and we look forward to representing the United States Air Force."
It will be the first races of the season for Air Force's 23-ranked women and 26th-ranked men. It is also the men's first head-to-head competition with Army West Point or Navy since the early 1960s – and the women's first head-to-head meetings with either team since the early 1980s.
