Falcon Athletic Center weight room gets major renovation

The weight room in the Falcon Athletic Center received a major renovation recently. The $1.2 million project was recently completed and the athletic department took over ownership just after the first of the year. With the recent upgrades in the weight room and many other facilities, Air Force cadet-athletes can utilize some of the best facilities in the nation.

The flooring went from all turf with 4" 8'x8' platforms to highly specialized performance flooring (18 mm rubberized) and two turf areas available for sprinting, sled pushes, and other conditioning work. In addition, there are four speed ladders inlaid in the turf.

- Total project was $1.2M for equipment and flooring
- Went from 48 weight lifting racks to 54 Sorinex Base Camp Uber Full racks with the ability to have 108 athletes workout at the same time.
- Roughly 216 athletes can use the facility at the same time when factoring in the TRX and other stations
- 108 sets of bumpers with roughly 1,700 kgs (increased from 48)
- 54 benches for exercises
- 52 Total Body Resistance Exercise stations (increased from 36)
- 4 new sets of Intek strength dumbbells (5-100 lbs) with self-leveling logos so the AF is always upright.
