The men earned their first national ranking of the year, after receiving votes in the first four polls.
NEW ORLEANS – The Air Force men's cross country team debuted in the Top 30 of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Division I National Coaches Poll this afternoon (Oct. 5) – its first national ranking of the year. The Falcons, who received votes during the first four national polls of the 2021 season, are tied for 30th with Charlotte (22 points).
It is the 36th-straight week that Air Force's men have been mentioned in the national conversation (either ranked or receiving votes) – a program-best streak that dates back to the opening poll of the 2017 season.
The men are coming off of a strong performance at the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Sept. 23, where they finished third in the team standings of a meet that featured several nationally-mentioned squads. The only squad to place its entire scoring lineup in the top 25, Air Force bettered one top-20 team and a squad that was listed higher in the "Also Receiving Votes" category of the previous poll.
Air Force splits for the next two weeks of competition, as part of the team will run at the UCCS Open in Colorado Springs this Friday (Oct. 8) and the rest will travel to the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison next Friday (Oct. 15).
