Falcons fall to LMU in WWPA First Round

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Fourth seeded Loyola Marymount defeated fifth-seeded Air Force, 13-6, in the first round of the Western Water Polo Association Championships, Friday, Nov. 19, in Davis, Calif.
LMU scored the game's first three goals before Grant Snyder found the back of the net at 1:37 of the first quarter. The Lions added a goal late in the first for a 4-1 lead after the opening eight minutes.
Snyder scored back-to-back goals early in the second quarter, the first on a five-meter shot and the second on a power play to cut the Lion lead to 4-3. With 3:17 left in the second, Gavin Jones scored to tie the game. However, LMU scored the next three goals and a shot by Snyder in the final seconds just missed the cage as the Lions held a 7-4 lead at the half.
Lion Blazo Mitrovic scored just 1:19 seconds into the second for an 8-4 advantage. Sam Fuller 's goal with 2:00 left in the third quarter cut the LMU lead to 9-5 entering the final quarter. LMU scored two goals in the first 90 seconds of the fourth quarter for an 11-5 lead. Sam Fuller scored on a penalty shot with 4:19 for the Falcons' final goal of the day.
Snyder led Air Force with three goals while Fuller had two. A.J. Kuypers made six saves.
Air Force (17-8 overall) returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 19, against sixth-seeded Santa Clara at 12:30 pm PT at the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
