Sam Gilman Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

Gilman is the 16th Falcon to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division I XC Championships.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Air Force junior Sam Gilman claimed All-America honors this morning (Nov. 20), as he led the men's cross country team to a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Gilman, who recorded a 10K time of 29:25.4 to finish 26th in the 253-runner final after moving up nine spots during the final split, became the 16th Falcon to earn an All-American finish at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. His finish is the men's best individual placement since 2017.
The junior was one of two Falcons to place within the top 100 of the national meet, as classmate Scott Maison added a time of 30:07.4 to finish 95th. Sophomore Sean Maison moved up seven spots over the final split to finish 129th with a time of 30:26.4, while junior Ryan Johnson advanced six spots in the last leg to finished 143rd (30:33.1). Senior Ryan Ioanidis finished just 0.2 seconds (30:33.3) – and one place (144th) – back to round out the men's lineup of scoring finishers. Two additional Falcons – senior Will Kitzhaber, sophomore Luke Combs – also completed the 10K course around Apalachee Regional Park, finishing 170th (30:47.7) and 180th (30:59.1), respectively.
The Falcons tallied 453 points to finish 17th in the 31-team field – the program's best team finish since 2017.
