Men’s Tennis Wins At Metro State, 6-1

Air Force men's tennis (4-4) won a 6-1 match at Metro State (2-6) Friday afternoon at The Regency Athletic Complex in Denver.

The Falcons swept the doubles competition and went 5-1 in singles play for the win.

The Falcons took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Robert Baylon and Jordan Azuma won at No. 2 over Billy McDermott and Alejandro Martinez-Morilla 6-1. Metro State tied up the doubles with a win at No. 3 as Jack McDermott and Jeanloup Auzias defeated Jonathan Mascagni and Justin Waldman 6-2. Paul Hendrix and Jamie Bautista then won at No. 1, defeating Mateo Besada and Daniel Llorente 6-4 for the doubles point.

The Falcons then won the first three signles matches to take the match.

Baylon started things off with a win at No. 3 over Besada 6-1, 6-2. Sean McKendree then won at No. 4 over Martinez-Morilla 6-2, 6-1. Hendrix won at No. 1 over Llorente 7-6 (3), 6-4 for the clinching win.

The Falcons also picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles. Waldman rallied back to win at No. 2 over Jack McDermott 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Nick Vroman won at No. 6 over Billy McDermott 6-4, 6-1. Azuma fell at No. 5 over David Kijak 4-6, 7-6, 10-5.

Air Force returns to action March 25 at Sacramento State.
