Men’s Tennis Drops 4-3 Contest to UNLV

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis (8-9, 1-3 MW) fell to UNLV (9-10, 3-1 MW) 4-3 in a Mountain West dual Sunday afternoon at the USAFA Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The Falcons earned the doubles point but were only able to come away with two wins in singles as UNLV rallied.

Air Force opened with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Paul Hendrix and Jamie Bautista won at No. 1 over Alex Kobelt and Jordan Sauer 6-1. Sean McKendree and Justin Waldman won at No. 2 over Anton Ornberg and Jackson Atherton 6-3.

In singles, UNLV won the first three singles matches to go up 3-1. The Falcons then tied it up at 3-3 with a pair of singles wins. UNLV re-took the lead with a win at No. 2 singles.

Hendrix fell at No 1 singles to Kobelt 6-2, 6-3. Jonathan Mascagni fell at No. 4 to Milos Dabic 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Waldman fell at No. 3 to Sauer 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

The Falcons picked up wins at No. 5 and 6. Nick Vroman won at No. 6 over Alenik 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. McKendree won at No. 5 over Ornberg 6-1, 5-7, 7-0.

Robert Baylon fell at the clinching No. 2 match to Eric Samuelsson in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

The Falcons return to action Friday, April 16 at Utah State.
