Five AF Wrestlers Set to Compete at 2021 UWW Junior and Senior Nationals

Five Falcons will be competing in freestyle competition against some of the best wrestlers in the country
CORALVILLE, Iowa – The Air Force Academy wrestling team will have a contingent of wrestlers competing in the 2021 UWW Junior and Senior Nationals this weekend, Saturday-Sunday, May 1-2, at the Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa. Five Falcons will be competing in freestyle competition against some of the best wrestlers in the country.
Members of the AF wrestling team will be competing under the Air Force Regional Training Center name this weekend. Weight classes are decided by kilograms. Fans can follow the action via a subscription based live stream on FloWrestling, while full brackets and results will be available for free on the FloArena.
In the freestyle competition, junior Sidney Flores and freshman Calvin Sund will be in the Senior Men's Freestyle bracket at 61 and 86 kg, respectively. The other three Falcons in action will compete in the Junior Men's Freestyle bracket, and they are freshmen Garrett Kuchan at 61 kg, Sam Wolf at 86 kg, and Wyatt Hendrickson at 125 kg.
The champion in each weight class in the Men's Freestyle for the UWW Junior Nationals will represent Team USA at the UWW Junior World Championships in Ufa, Russia on August 16th-22nd. The UWW Junior Nationals will also have qualifying implications for both the Pan-American Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the Pan-American Games in Cali, Colombia.
The top-five place winners for the UWW Senior Nationals at each weight class will earn a spot in the 2021 Senior World Team Trials, which will be announced at a later date. The UWW Senior Nationals will also have qualifying implications for the Pan-American Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Action in Iowa begins Saturday, May 1, with both divisions starting action at 10 a.m. CT. The Senior Freestyle will conclude on Saturday, while the Junior Freestyle will take two days to complete.
