Air Force Men’s Tennis Opens Play at ITA Mountain Regional

Air Force men's tennis opened play at the ITA Div. I Men's Mountain Regional Championships on Tuesday at the outdoor tennis courts in Provo, Utah. Senior Robert Baylon led the way by advancing to the second day of action in the singles draw with a pair of wins.

The Falcons earned four wins in singles with Baylon, senior Jordan Azuma and freshman Kyle Garner winning their first round matches. Baylon defeated Marcus Sulen of Northern Arizona in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Garner defeated Thomas Navarro of UNLV, also in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Azuma defeated Tom Ciszewski of UNLV 6-4, 6-1.

In the round of 64, Baylon defeated Georgio Samaha 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the round of 32 Wednesday. Garner and Azuma dropped their matches.

In doubles play, the duo of Jonathan Mascagni and Arjun Kersten advance to the round of 64 with a win over Countinho/Savio of Weber State 8-2. The Falcons dropped their three other doubles matches, as #12 Baylon/Azuma, Luke Wolf/Garner and Justin Waldman/Nick Vroman fell.

Air Force returns to action in day two tomorrow.
