Baylon Advances To Singles Round Of 16 At ITA Mountain Regional

Air Force men's tennis completed day two of competition Wednesday at the ITA Div. I Men's Mountain Regional Championships at the outdoor tennis courts in Provo, Utah. Senior Robert Baylon continued to lead the way with a win to advance in the singles bracket.
Baylon won his round of 32 match against Mathias Gavelin of Utah 6-4, 7-5. He advances to the round of 16 tomorrow.
The Falcons also had a pair advance in the consolation draw. Junior Jonathan Mascagni won two matches to advance to the round of 16 and freshman Arjun Kersten also advanced. Mascagni defeated Marcos Zelver of Montana State 6-0, 6-4 and Cadem Moortgat of Boise State 7-6 (3), 6-3. Kersten won over Facundo Tumos of Northern Arizona 6-1, 6-1 and advanced into the round of 16 after his opponent in the round of 32 withdrew due to injury.
In doubles, Mascagni and Kersten were eliminated from the Main draw in the round of 32. In the consolation doubles draw, the duo of Jordan Azuma and Robert Baylon went 1-1, winning their first match before falling the round of 16. Justin Waldman and Nick Vroman also made the round of 16 before suffering a setback.
Air Force returns to action in day three tomorrow.
