Air Force Defeats GCU 4-3 For Weekend Sweep

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis defeated Grand Canyon 4-3 in non-conference action Sunday morning at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts. The Falcons completed a 2-0 weekend at home and improved to 3-2 on the season.
Air Force opened with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to claim the point. Robert Baylon and Alex Krawietz won at No. 2 over Martim Marujo and Adrien Coulome 6-1. Justin Waldman and Nick Vroman won at No. 3 over Wyatt Anderson and Freddie Grant 6-3.
In singles, the Falcons won three of the first four singles matches to clinch before the final two matches were completed. Baylon won at No. 1 over Argote 6-0, 6-2 for the first singles point. Arjun Kersten won at No. 4 over Marujo 6-3, 6-4 for the teams' third point.
After GCU claimed a point with a win at No. 3 singles, Jonathan Mascagni clinched the dual with a win at No. 2 over Jiri Novak 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Jan. 28, hosting Metro State in a 9 am/4 pm doubleheader.
