Wyatt Hendrickson Wins Southern Scuffle Title

CHATTANOOGA - Top-seeded Air Force sophomore Wyatt Hendrickson won the heavyweight title at the prestigious 2022 Southern Scuffle, pinning three opponents while earning five bonus point victories en route to the title, Saturday and Sunday, in McKenzie Arena, on the campus of UT-Chattanooga.
For his dominant performance Hendrickson won the Outstanding Wrestler award and the Gorrarian Award for the most pins in the shortest amount of time (4/11:10). He gave up just four points on the tournament. Hendrickson is the first-ever Southern Scuffle champion in Air Force history.
Other wrestlers who competed unattached for Air Force were Sidney Flores (133) and Cody Phippen (141). Phippen went 2-2 on the day, picking up decision win against Vince Cornella (Spartan Combat RTC, 6-1) and a major decision against Matthew Bianchi (Little Rock, 10-0). Flores posted an 0-2 record on the event
Air Force was unable to compete as a full team due to COVID-19 related health and safety protocols.
