U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – The Falcon Athletic Fund has launched its annual Tickets for Troops campaign. The 2021-2022 Tickets for Troops campaign raised over $113,000, one of the best years ever. This year, the Falcon Athletic Fund hopes to improve on that success and provide even more opportunities to send military families to Air Force Athletic events. This will be the 14th annual Tickets for Troops campaign (no campaign was conducted in 2020-21 due to COVID-19) with 3,000 - 5,000 tickets donated each year. Recipients of the donated tickets are chosen by instillation commanders, chief master sergeants, first sergeants or their equivalents as well as being provided to active military and veteran organizations.
Tickets for Troops gives corporations, groups and community members the opportunity to send military personnel (active duty and veterans) and their families to Air Force Athletics events across the country. The mission of Tickets for Troops is to send every service member interested in attending an athletic event at no cost to the service member. Tickets, in the past, have been provided for events such as the inaugural Commanders' Classic (2021) in Arlington, the First Responders Bowl (2021) in Dallas, the Ice Vegas Invitational (2020) and the Cheez-It Bowl (2019) in Phoenix. Events during the 2022-23 athletic season will feature the Commanders' Classic vs. Army in Arlington TX, the Mountain West Conference Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas, NV and the Air Force vs. New Mexico football game at Falcon Stadium.
"Our Tickets for Troops campaign is a great opportunity for Falcon Nation to give back to the greater military community," said Tim Mahan, associate athletic director for development. "This is the athletic department's way to say thank you to those who currently are serving and those who have served."
Donors who take part in the Tickets for Troops campaign can receive exclusive access to benefits based on their giving level, including events at the Commanders' Classic, Air Force Athletics post-season events, and other Air Force Athletics related events.
Any donations, beyond providing tickets, are invested into Air Force Athletics' 27 intercollegiate programs and 1,000 cadet-athletes.
