Falcons hold lead after Day One in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz.- Following the first day of action on the campus of Grand Canyon University, the Falcons hold a slim lead heading into Day Two, as Air Force leads GCU 87-80 after 11 events.

"We swam super well," said head coach Colleen Murphy. "We had some close races that we lost that hurt us, but overall it was a great day."

The Falcons swam to three first-place finishes, as Abby Turner was again in solid form. Turner was the victor in the 100Y Free, racing to a time of 51.91. Turner, as well as Kara Gavin, Alex Clark, and Kai-Min Tsuei placed first in the 400Y Free Relay, clocking in at 3:29.67.

Zoe Bresnahan rounded out the winners in the pool for Air Force, placing first in the 500Y Freestyle with a time of 5:03.00.

Grace Treanor made her mark on the diving board, again posting a top score of 263.03 in the three-meter dive.

The Falcons will resume action on Saturday, November 5 with a start time of 11:00 am MT. The scheduled order of events for the final day at GCU are as follows:

-400Y Medley Relay
-1000Y Freestyle
-200Y Individual Medley
-50Y Freestyle
-200Y Butterfly
-100Y Backstroke
-100Y Breaststroke
-200Y Freestyle
-200Y Freestyle Relay
-1- and 3-meter diving events will run concurrently
