Five Falcons to compete at USA Winter Air Gun Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Five Air Force shooters will compete in the USA Winter Air Gun Championships, Dec. 9-11, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The USA Winter Air Gun serves as a national championship and also gives athletes an opportunity to earn slots on the U.S. Team based on their three-day results.
Juniors Dante Aletto and Peninah D'Souza, sophomores Lauren Hurley and Scott Rockett and freshman Victoria Leppert will all compete.
Competition for all five in air rifle begins on Friday, Dec. 9. Rockett will compete the first relay on the lower range. Aletto will be in the first relay on the lower range. Hurley and Leppert will be in the third relay on the upper range. D'Souza will be in the fourth relay on the lower range.
Last season at the USA Winter Air Gun Championships, D'Souza posted a score that put her on the U.S. National Team. Her average placed her third behind two female shooters who both competed for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics.
D'Souza and Rockett both qualified for the finals last season. Rockett placed fifth with an aggregate score of 206.3. D'Souza placed seventh with an aggregate score of 142.5.
In the U21 Super Finals, Rocket won the competition with a 248.7. D'Souza placed second (248.6) and Lauren Hurley was 31st (101.7),
