Air Force Downs Idaho and Omaha Friday

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis won both of its matches Friday at the USAFA Indoor Tennis Courts to extend its winning streak. The Falcons defeated Idaho 4-3 in the morning and rallied back to down Omaha 4-1 in the nightcap. Air Force extended its win streak to six matches--its longest since 2014--and improved to 7-2 on the season.
In the morning match against Idaho, the Falcons won 4-3.
Air Force took the doubles point with wins as No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Robert Baylon and Jordan Azuma won at No. 1 over Bascon/Casino 7-5. Jonathan Mascagni and Alex Krawietz won at No. 3 over Taylor/Salvador Civera 7-6 to clinch the point.
In singles, Mascagni won the opening singles point for the Falcons at No. 2 over Casino 7-5, 6-3. Arjun Kersten then earned a win at No. 4 singles over Duron Garca 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 for the third point. Justin Waldman clinched the match with a win at No. 5 over Civera 6-2, 6-2.
In the nightcap against Omaha, the Falcons took the doubles point and then went 3-1 in singles play to pull out the win. Despite the score, the Falcons went to three sets in all three singles wins, rallying back in two of the matches after dropping the first set.
The Falcons opened with the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Vroman and Kersten won at No. 2, 6-3 and Azuma and Waldman clinched the point with a win at No. 1, 6-3.
In singles, the Falcons dropped the first match at No. 1 singles to make it a 1-1 tie. Air Force then won at No. 2-4 singles for the win.
Kersten got the team its second point with a win at No. 4. After dropping the first set 7-6, Kersten rallied back 6-3, 7-5 to pull out the win. Vroman then gave the Falcons its third point with the win at No. 3 singles. Vroman went to three sets with Hugo Piles Ballester, but pulled out the win 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
Mascagni then clinched the match with the win at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first set 7-6 to Davis Lawley, Mascagni took the second set 6-1 and won the third set 6-4.
Air Force returns to action Sunday, Feb. 6, hosting Northern Arizona.
