U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team will open the 2022-23 season by hosting TCU in a dual meet, Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 am at the USAFA Rifle Range. The Falcons' first three matches will be at home as UTEP and West Virginia visit the Academy, Oct. 15-16.
Air Force will defend its President's Trophy, Saturday, Nov. 5, by taking on fellow service academies Army and Navy.
In the second half of the season, the Falcons will host Alaska for a pair of duals Jan. 21-22. The Patriot Rifle Conference Championships will be Feb. 4-5, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Air Force will host an NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 18 in preparation for the NCAA Championships, March 10-11 in Akron, Ohio.
Last season, the Falcons finished fifth in the NCAA Championships, held at the Air Force Academy. Air Force reached the NCAAs for the eighth straight year and posted the highest finish since 2019. The Falcons set new school records in all three areas: smallbore, air rifle and aggregate during the season.
The Falcons return all four All-Americans from last season, including sophomore Scott Rockett,
Rockett became the first Falcon to ever win the NCAA air rifle national championship. Two Falcons, Peninah D'Souza and Lauren Hurley each shot a perfect score of 600 in air rifle, the first Falcons to ever hit that mark.
Rockett earned All-America honors in all three disciplines, first team in air rifle, second team in aggregate and third team in small bore. Morgan Kreb earned third-team honors in smallbore and was honorable in air rifle. D'Souza was first team in air rifle and Hurley was second team.
