USAFA, Colo.- On Senior Day, the Falcons gave their C1C's a proper farewell, as Air Force bested Denver 236.5-141.5.
"It was a great day for the Falcons, and a great way to send out our seniors in their final dual meet," said head coach Rob Clayton. "We had a lot of great swims today."
The Falcons afternoon began fast and furious, all thanks to three of the program's four seniors. The group of Gabriel Bartolomei, Tory Bartlett, Matthew Lattin, and Grant Afman swam to a first-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, posting a time of 1:30.24. Air Force's "B" team of Joseph Moore, Tommy Nagle, Andy Armbruster, and John Plutt finished just behind their teammates, placing second with a time of 1:30.90.
Wen Zhang continues to torment his opponents in the pool, as the senior clinched a victory in the 200 Free. Zhang swam to a winning time of 1:39.97. Zhang also claimed a win in the 50 Free after racing to a time of 20.30 while also coming out victorious in the 50 Back (22.85).
Zhang, Afman, Plutt, and Lattin also swam to a winning time in the 200 Free Relay, winning the race after clocking in at 1:21.79.
Alex Kenyon performed mightily in the 1-meter dive, as his score of 324.60 awarded him a first-place win.
Lattin's afternoon extended to the 50 Fly, where the senior was victorious with a time of 22.03. Afman placed second after touching out at 22.12.
Joshua Kim made an impression in the 50 Breaststroke, as the freshman triumphed to a win with a time of 25.14.
"We're really excited about where we're at, but we have more work to do," said Clayton. "We're on pace to be very fast at the conference championships."
Next, the swimmers will get a break from the action, as the Falcons host the Air Force Diving Invitational with action starting February 2.
