COLORADO SPRINGS- Air Force opened its home schedule against Denver on Friday, as the Falcons were bested 168.00-75.00 at Cadet Natatorium.
Ryan Mills notched yet another win in the 100 Freestyle, besting the field with a time of 52.61. Lily Bachl finished third in the same event, timing out at 52.92. Mills also placed third in the 50 Freestyle (24.08), and was the lead for the Falcons 200 Freestyle Relay Team that placed second following a time of 1:35.02.
"Ryan Mills had another great night for a freshman, winning the 100 Free," said head swimming coach Colleen Murphy. "We got out-touched in a lot of close races tonight."
The Falcons performance in the 200 Freestyle Relay stands as the top-time of the season for Air Force.
As well in the 50 Freestyle, Abby Turner managed a tight second-place finish, clocking in at 23.96. Another second-place swimmer, Mandy Fleetwood touched out in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.27. Naomi Furman was just behind her, placing third following a time of 2:24.81.
Abigail Hardy (2:06.97) and Lauren Arnold (2:09.92) took second and third in the 200 Butterfly.
Kai-Min Tsuei paced Air Force in the 200 Backstroke as the result of her 2:08.40 in the race. In the 500 Freestyle, Natalie Gembicki earned a third-place standing, clocking in at 5:17.34. Always reliable in the distance races, Katelyn Andrist notched a third-place finish in the 1000 Freestyle, ending the race to the tune of 10:41.66.
"Tomorrow, our team needs to step up another level against a very good Wyoming team," said Murphy.
Next, the Falcons will indeed battle the Cowgirls on Saturday, October 21. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm MT at Cadet Natatorium.
