Col. Meg Martin is vice dean of the faculty and permanent professor of history. As vice dean, she assists the dean in commanding the 750-member Dean of Faculty mission element, overseeing the annual design and instruction of more than 500 undergraduate courses for 4,000 cadets across 32 academic disciplines, directing the operation of five support staff agencies, and managing faculty resources involving $350 million.
Col. Martin earned her commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996. She graduated from specialized undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin AFB, Texas in 1998. She is a command pilot with more than 3,400 flight hours and 320 combat hours in the C-17A.
Col. Martin has served in a variety of leadership positions to include commander of the 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron at Travis AFB, Calif. She has also served as the director of operations for the 306 Operations Support Squadron, and as a flight commander and special operations low level (SOLL) II planner for C-17A training and combat missions. In 2008 as an instructor at the Academy, she was recognized as the Shiner Award Winner for excellence in teaching military history.
Martin, a 1993 swimming All-American, was a four-year letterwinner and helped lead the Air Force women's swimming and diving team to the NCAA Division II national championship. Those teams were the first team to be inducted into the Air Force Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.
