Falcons maintain top spot at Liberty Invite

LYNCHBURG- Air Force conquered its third day at the TYR '85 Liberty Invitational, extending its point total to remain atop the standings following Saturday.
The final swims began with the 200 Medley Relay, as the foursome of Anna Ashley, Naomi Furman, Allana Clarke, and Abby Turner posted a time of 1:41.38 to finish in third.
Clarke also raced to a third-place finish in the 100 Butterfly, timing out at 54.48. Shayla Markle finished fifth (55.24) in the same event.
In the 400 IM, Ella Martin (4:22.32) and Alex Clark (4:24.98) finished 2-3, while Jessie McNeil (4:28.43) placed seventh.
Lauren Arnold was the top placer for the Falcons 200 Freestyle, as the junior placed seventh after a time of 1:51.54. In the "B" final of the 200 Freestyle, Turner touched out in the top spot in the race, posting a 1:51.63.
Furman made waves in the 100 Breaststroke, posting a 1:02.55 to place fifth. Mandy Fleetwood rounded out the 'A" final, finishing ninth after a time of 1:04.83.
In the concluding individual event, Kai-Min Tsuei qualified for the final swim in the 100 Backstroke, finishing eighth with a time of 56.48. Clarke (56.62) placed 10th, while Markle (57.18) was 13th.
The Falcons 800 Freestyle Relay team of Clark, Arnold, Ryan Mills and Kara Gavin earned a second-place standing, as the group combined for a 7:29.73.
Next, Air Force will complete the Liberty Invitational on Sunday, November 19 with prelims starting at 8:00 am MT, with final swims resuming at 3:00 pm MT.
