
Air Force ends WAC Championships with fifth-place finish

PHARR, Texas- On the final day of the WAC Championships, the Falcons secured a fifth-place finish among the six teams, as Air Force totaled 542 team points over the four-day meet.
Wen Zhang departed Pharr after notching his third program record of the weekend, the final coming in the 100 Free. The senior paced the field in the preliminary round before placing second in the championship round with a time of 42.32. Zhang overtakes his previous-best swim of 42.97 set a season ago.
What was an excellent showing from the program's fourth-class cadets all weekend, freshmen Louis Body and Anthony Sebastian punctuated their first conference championship with new top-ten Air Force times.
Body swam to a third-place finish in the 200 Back, posting a time of 1:44.85. Body's success in the event becomes the second-best time in the 200 Back in program history. Cole McAnany's school record of 1:43.71 was set in 2020.
Anthony Sebastian recorded a 2:00.22 in the finals of the 200 Breaststroke, placing sixth-overall. The C4C's time becomes the eighth-best time in the event in program history.
Fresh off of a championship-winning swim in the 400 IM, Camden Swigart placed fifth in the 1650 Free finals, touching out at 15:32.78. Body (15:46.27) and Jack VanValkenburg (15:50.99) placed seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Air Force 400 Medley Relay team (Zhang/Nagle/Afman/Swigart) placed fourth following a time of 3:12.50. As well, Alex Kenyon's score in the platform dive (290.10) was good for fifth in the championship portion of the event.
In the 200 Breastroke, Tory Barlett (2:03.22) finished seventh, while Tommy Nagle (1:58.69) was the top finisher in the consolation finals.
