USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis released its 2023-24 schedule, announced today by head coach Evan Urbina. The Falcons host four events in the fall and 11 home duals in the Spring.
Highlights of the fall season has Air Force hosting two ITA events--The ITA Bedford Cup In The Mountains, Sept. 22-24 and the ITA Fall Mountain Regional, Sept. 29-Oct. 2--in addition to the Air Force Invitational Nov. 3-5 with Army West Point.
"We're hosting the Bedford Cup and Regionals on back-to-back weekends in late September," Urbina said. "Those tournaments will be great opportunities to show regional teams how tough we are at home. We get great crowd support, and our guys play with a passion that is fun to watch. You can tell they love the game with the way they compete."
The Falcons head to Denver twice, taking part in the MSU Denver Invite Sept. 9-10 and the Denver Hidden Duals Oct. 27-29. The Falcons also have a split squad on Nov. 3-5 as a group will also partake in the SMU Hidden Duals in Dallas. Fans will get to see the Falcons in action for the first time on Aug. 31 in the Blue-Silver Scrimmage as part of Parent's Weekend at the Academy.
The Spring season starts with road trips to Omaha and Creighton, Sept. 19 and 20. The Falcons then host Weber State, Feb. 3, Idaho State, Feb. 9 and North Dakota, Feb. 11.
One of Air Force's marquee events will be against Stetson and Army at the USTA Training Center in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 16-17. The Army match will be part of the USTA College MatchDay event.
"Our annual service academy matchup in Lake Nona, FL is on the biggest stage at a beautiful venue," Urbina added. "The last few years we've had terrific alumni support, two incredible flyovers, and exceptional competition. You can't miss it!"
Another big dual on the schedule will be at home against power-five program BYU on March 9.
"At home, in the middle of our season, against new power-five school BYU, it will be an exciting match for our fans to support," Urbina said. "It will be a tough opponent to help us prepare for our conference season."
Air Force also has February home matches against Abilene Christian, Feb. 23 and Northern Arizona, Feb. 25. The Falcons open March in Houston, Texas, taking on Rice on March 2 and a neutral-site dual against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 3.
In addition to the BYU match on March 9, the Falcons also host Montana State on March 10, Denver on March 16 and open Mountain West play hosting Nevada on March 28 and Utah State on March 30.
The Falcons play four in a row on the road to open April. Air Force is at UC San Diego on April 4 and San Diego State on April 5 and at UNLV on April 7 and New Mexico on April 13. The regular season wraps up April 18 against defending Mountain West Champion Boise State.
Air Force then competes at the Mountain West Men's Tennis Championships April 24-26 in Las Vegas.
"The goal with our schedule is to play as tough competition as we can, while building towards our ultimate goal of peaking at the Mountain West Conference tournament in Las Vegas, NV," Urbina said.
