#20 Air Force Completes Day Two At Inland Empire Classic

20th-ranked Air Force men's water polo (5-3) dropped both of its games in day two competition Sunday at the Inland Empire Classic in Redlands, Calif. The Falcons fell to Cal State Fullerton 15-10 and to host Redlands 14-12.

In the opener against Fullerton, the Falcons fell behind early and could never overtake the Titans. The Falcons fell behind 3-2 after the first quarter and 7-4 at the half.

Air Force got its offense going in the third quarter with four goals, but allowed six to trail 13-8. The teams traded two goals each in the fourth quarter. Freshman Tom Leggett led the Falcons with five points, scoring three goals and two assists. Junior Kaito Ham added two goals. Sophomore Luca Smith had seven saves in goal, adding two assists.

In the second game of the day, a big third quarter by Redlands was too big an obstacle to overcome, as a late rally fell just short.

Air Force led 3-2 after the first quarter of play. The teams went to halftime tied 7-7. Redlands took control of the game in third quarter by outscoring the Falcons 6-2 to jump ahead 13-8. The Falcons outscored Redlands 3-1 in the fourth, but could not get any closer than the two goal margin.

Freshman Jack Richards led the Falcons with four goals. Leggett and junior Jacob Yi added four points each. Leggett scored two goals and two assists and Yi added a goal and three assists. Liam Markus had two saves in goal for the Falcons.

Air Force has a busy week ahead, returning to action Thursday, Sept. 14 at Navy and then playing in the Bucknell Invite over the weekend.
