#20 Air Force Drops Both Games In Day One At Troyer Tournament

#20 Air Force men's water polo (9-10) dropped both games Friday at the Gary Troyer Tournament, in Claremont, Calif. The Falcons fell to #6 UC Irvine and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
In the first game, Air Force was unable to slow the UC Irvine offense down in the 24-11 game. The Falcons trailed 5-3 after the first quarter and 13-7 at the half.
Sophomore Tom Leggett led the Falcons with eight points, scoring six goals and adding two assists. Sophomore Jack Richards and freshman Dante Nocetti added two goals each. Senior Jacob Yi added two assists.
Junior Luca Smith had three saves in goal. Freshman Jay Pyle relieved Smith in goal, recording five saves. Pyle went up against his brother, Jacob who was the goalkeeper for UCI.
In the nightcap, Air Force was unable to maintain the lead after three quarters, as CMS rallied to the win 15-13. Air Force trailed early, down 4-2 after the first quarter and 6-5 at the half. Big 5-1 scoring advantage in the third quarter saw the Falcons take a 10-7 lead. CMS then out-scored the Falcons 8-3 in the fourth quarter.

Air Force returns to action at the Troyer tournament tomorrow. The Falcons face La Verne at 9 am PT and Mount St. Mary's at 1 pm.
