Air Force Takes Down #18 LMU In Home Finale, 19-18

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's water polo (13-17, 1-3 WCC) took down #18 LMU 19-18 in a West Coast Conference game Thursday night at the Cadet Natatorium. Five goals by junior Jake Dixon and six assists from senior David Brown led the way for the Falcons in their last home game of the season.
Sophomore Jack Richards had the game-winning goal for the Falcons, breaking the 18-18 tie with the game-winning goal with 12 seconds left in regulation.
It was a back-and-forth game all night, as neither team lead by more than two goals. Air Force took a 5-4 lead after the first quarter of play.
LMU tied it up at the half with a 7-6 advantage in goals in the second quarter.
The third quarter was a defensive battle, as both teams scored just two goals. Air Force would go ahead by two goals with 3:20 to play. But LMU rallied to tie it up. Richards then scored the game-winner.
Brown and senior Jacob Yi led the Falcons with seven points. Yi scored three goals and had four assists. Sophomore Tom Leggett scored four goals and Richards had three.
Junior Luca Smith earned the win in goal for the Falcons with three saves.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Nov. 15 at Santa Clara.
