
Air Force beats Alaska and Ohio State

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team, ranked seventh in the nation, defeated No. 4 Alaska and No. 9 Ohio State in a tri-meet Thursday, Feb. 1, in Columbus, Ohio. Air Force shot a 4727, the second-highest score of the season. Alaska was second with a 4726 and Ohio State was third (4711).
Senior Peninah D'Souza placed second overall, shooting career highs in aggregate score (1197) and smallbore (593).
Air Force won the smallbore with a 2347, tying as the second highest smallbore score of the season. D'Souza won the smallbore with a career-high 593. Lauren Hurley was sixth in smallbore (587) and Morgan Kreb was seventh (586).
In air rifle, Scott Rockett led the team with a 596, followed by Hurley (595), Victoria Leppert (595) and D'Souza (594).
The Falcons travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., for the annual Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 3-4. Live scoring will be available at MegaLink.
