Emara and Luu Sweep MPSF Fencer Of The Week Honors

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force fencing claimed both the men's and women's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Fencer of the Week honors for the week Feb. 5-11 competition, announced today by the conference office. Sophomore Omar Emara won the MPSF Men's Fencer of the Week and sophomore Shanon Luu won MPSF Women's Fencer of the Week.

Luu (San Francisco, Calif.) recorded a 9-1 record (.900) in women's foil at the Duke Invitational (Feb. 10-11). Luu was especially successful against top-10 opponents, going 2-0 against No. 5 Duke and 2-1 against No. 9 Temple. She added unbeaten marks against Brandeis (3-0) and Johns Hopkins (2-0). This is the first career MPSF award for Luu.

Emara (Arcadia, Calif.) posted a 7-1 individual record in men's epee in helping lead the Falcons to a 3-0 weekend at the Duke
Invitational (Feb. 10-11). Emara went 2-1 in a 14-13 team upset over No. 10 Duke, along with 2-0 vs. Brandeis and 3-0 vs. Johns Hopkins. This is the first career MPSF award for Emara.

The Falcons return to action Feb. 16-19 at the USA Fencing Junior Olympics in Charlotte, NC.
