Air Force places fifth at NCAA Rifle Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team placed fifth at the 2024 NCAA Rifle Championships, March 9, in Morgantown, W.V. The fifth-place finish matches the 2022 finish and ties as the best since the 2019 team placed third.
The team's 4709 score is the second best ever at the NCAA Championships.
On the final day of competition, Air Force placed fifth in air rifle with a score of 2376. The Falcons were also fifth in the smallbore competition on Friday with a 2333.
Senior Peninah D'Souza was the top Falcon, placing ninth in aggregate score with an 1182. She tied her season high in air rifle with a 598 and qualified for the finals, placing eighth. Senior Morgan Kreb just missed qualifying for the finals in both disciplines and shot an aggregate score of 1179. Junior Lauren Hurley finished at 1176, sophomore Victoria Leppert shot an 1168 and junior Scott Rockett shot an 1180.
TCU came from behind to win the team championship with a score of 4732. West Virginia was second (4729), followed by Alaska (4719), Kentucky (4718), Air Force (4709), Navy (4698), Mississippi (4693) and Nebraska (4680).
