Air Force Sports Camps sponsored by Common Spirit wrapped up its 44th year this week. The program offered 21 camps for ages 8-18 with an additional six specialty camps. More than 3,000 campers attended from 47 states and four countries. The camp dates were:
Session 1, June 10-14
Session 2, June 17-21
Session 3, June 24-25
Air Force head coaches and their staffs led the camps and were assisted by some of the top coaches from around the country. Air Force Academy cadets made up the cadre of about 90 total that interacted with campers daily in support roles and serve as counselors in the dorms for campers electing to attend camp as overnight boarders. Senior Emily Cook of the spirit squad was the head cadet in charge while senior George Gasparovich IV of fencing was the vice.
Air Force Sports Camps also welcomed back TrueSport as a partner for the ninth straight year. TrueSport is a program powered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), designed to positively impact, and preserve the future of sport in America. Air Force Sports Camps once again was officially recognized as a TrueSport camp by USADA this year which means that each camper was exposed to the curriculum and gained important lessons on what it means to be a TrueSport athlete.
