U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force Athletics announced the creation of a deferred payment plan for game tickets in support of United States government employees impacted by the current government shutdown, Friday, Oct. 24. In anticipation of a sold-out crowd for the service academy football game, against Army, Saturday, Nov. 1, at Falcon Stadium, this new initiative will allow all furloughed government employees the option to defer payment on game tickets until the government is reopened, and employees have been compensated.
"The prolonged government shutdown is negatively impacting thousands of families here at the Academy, along the front range and across our country," Air Force Director of Athletics, Nathan Pine, said. "We sympathize with the hardships it is creating and recognize this has been a challenging time for our teammates, their families and our entire community. In response, we want to help where we can and try to remove barriers from enjoying Academy athletics competitions and especially the incredible service academy rivalry."
This initiative will allow ticket purchasers the opportunity to select a deferred payment plan option when purchasing Air Force vs. Army football tickets online, along with tickets to other sporting events. The credit card used when completing the transaction will not be charged until a future date, to be determined, once the shutdown has ended and employees have received their initial paychecks. Communication from the Air Force Ticket Office with specific details on dates will be sent to all purchasers utilizing the deferred payment option once the government shutdown has ended.
Limited tickets remain for the Air Force vs. Army game. To purchase Air Force vs. Army tickets, to utilize the deferred payment plan option for other athletic events, or for more information, please visit www.AFtickets.com or call the Air Force Athletics Ticket Office at 719-472-1895.
