
Matthew Staton Earns Second MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Matthew Staton of Air Force has been named Mountain West Men's Tennis Freshman of Week for matches played during the week of Feb. 17-23, announced today by the conference office.
This is the second-consecutive week of earning MW FOW honor for the Bristow, Va., native.
Staton went 2-0 in Air Force's 5-2 win over Jacksonville State last Friday. In doubles, Staton teamed with Arjun Kersten to defeat Timo De Visser/Logan Haga 7-6 (7-5) to help clinch the doubles point. In singles, Staton defeated Matei Palcau at No. 5 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
It is the third-straight week that Air Force claimed the MW FOW honor as classmate Langdon Tingleaf earned the honor two weeks ago.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, March 1 at BYU.
