
Air Force travels to Bandon Dunes Collegiate, March 9-11

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team travels to the Oregon coast for the annual Bandon Dunes Championship, Sunday-Tuesday, March 9-11. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
THE FORMAT: The tournament will be played on the Bandon Trails course, rated as the No. 6 public course in the US for 2024 by Golfweek. The course will play at 6794 yards and is par-71. Teams will play 18 holes each day for a total of 54 holes. The shotgun start will begin at 8:30 am PT each day.
THE FIELD: In addition to the host school, Idaho, and Air Force, the field includes: Boise State, Boston College, CSU Northridge. Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, North Dakota State, North Idaho College, Oregon, San Jose State, Seattle University, SIU-Edwardsville, Tarleton State and Utah Valley.
THE LINEUP: The Falcon lineup this week will be: 1- Eli Huntington; 2-Cameron Kahle; 3-Eric Liveringhouse; 4-Brooks Morrell; 5-Carson Baker; Ind-Jackson Scaletta
THE FALCONS AT BANDON DUNES: This is Air Force's fourth time at the Bandon Dunes Championship. In 2022, the Falcons placed 15th with a 923. In 2023, Air Force was 18th with a 627 as the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to weather. The 2024 Championship started, but was eventually cancelled due to poor weather.
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Eli Huntington led the Air Force golf team to an 11th-place finish at the Nick Watney Invitational, Feb. 24-25, at the Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno, Calif. Huntington shot a 72 (+1) on the final day and finished the 54-hole tournament with a 217 (+4) to tie for 33rd overall. Senior Cameron Kahle shot 74 on the final day tied for 44th overall at 220 (+7). Junior Eric Liveringhouse was the top Falcon on the final day with 71 (even) and shot 221 (+8) for the tournament. Freshman Carson Baker shot 230 and junior Alvaro Fonseca shot 231. Sophomore Grant Samuelson, competing as an individual, shot 224. Fresno State, the host school, and the University of San Diego, tied for the championship, each shooting 829. Santa Clara was third (835) and Cal Poly was fourth (847). Air Force was 11th at 881, placing ahead of Southern Utah and CSU Northridge.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Sophomore Eli Huntington leads the team with a 72.71 season scoring average with nine rounds at par or better on the season. His 67 in the third round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational was a career best and the best round by a Falcon this season. He has two top-10 finishes this season and one top-5. Among golfers who played more than 10 rounds this season, Kahle has a 75.24, followed by Fonseca (75.36), Liveringhouse (75.47) and Davenport (75.79).
ON THE HORIZON: Following the Bandon Dunes Championship, Air Force will compete in the UC San Diego Invitational, March 23-25, at Torrey Pines Golf Club in La Jolla, Calif.
