Air Force Unable To Rally In 4-2 Setback To Nevada at Credit Union 1 MW Men’s Tennis Championships

Air Force men's tennis fell to Nevada (13-9) 4-2 in the opening round of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Tennis Championships Wednesday night at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The Falcons were eliminated from the tournament.

The Falcons battled back from early 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to tie the match up at 2-2. But Nevada was able to overtake the Falcons with wins at No. 6 and 1 singles to clinch the win.

Nevada opened with the doubles point, with wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles. Arjun Kersten and Jack Brown fell at No. 1 to Lucas Hammond/Youssef Kadiri 6-3. Phillip Deaton and Tyler Leaird fell at No. 2 to Remy Tregoures/Gregoire Valente 6-2.

In singles, the Falcons tied it up at 1-1 by winning the first singles match. AJ Moore won handily at No. 3 in straight sets over Axel Huysmans 6-4, 6-1.

Nevada went back ahead 2-1 as Tregoures won at No. 5 over Matthew Staton 6-2, 6-4. Air Force came right back as Alec Fritzinger won at No. 4 over Rayen Hermassi 7-6, (7-3), 6-1 to make it 2-2.

Brown was unable to rally back from down a set, as he dropped the second set tiebreaker at No. 6 to Maxime Contet 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). Nevada then clinched at No. 1 as Kadiri defeated Deaton in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Kersten was leading at No. 2 over Hammond 6-4, 4-6, 4-2 when the Wolf Pack clinched.

Air Force concludes the 2025 season with an 11-12 overall record. The Falcons nearly doubled-its win total of six from last season. Air Force graduates three seniors off the 2025 team in Kersten, Kyle Garner and Luke Wolf.
