
Phillip Deaton Earns MW Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Phillip Deaton of Air Force has been named Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of Week for matches played during the week of March 31-April 5, announced today by the conference office.
This is the first-career MW POW honor for the junior from Seattle, Wash.
Deaton went 3-1 last week in wins over Omaha and #65 New Mexico. Against Omaha, Deaton won at No. 1 singles over Aditya Balseka 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in the 4-3 win.
Against New Mexico, Deaton went 2-0 with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles in the historic 4-3 win. Deaton teamed with Tyler Leaird at No. 2 doubles to take down Aditya Balsekar and Avery Tallakson 7-6 (7-3) to clinch the doubles point. Deaton then beat Balsekar at No. 1 singles 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. The win over UNM snapped a 25-match losing streak that dated back to 2005.
Air Force returns to action April 11 hosting UNLV.
