Warfighters to Win: Capt. Karson Roberts

Capt. Karson Roberts, class of 2016, started the final 12 games of his senior season at quarterback and helped lead Air Force to its first ever Mountain Division championship game.
As a senior, Roberts hit 77-of-148 passes for 1,595 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was also second on the team in rushing with 743 yards and a team-best 10 TDs. He was one of 12 QBs nationally to score a touchdown rushing, passing and receiving during the season. His 1,595 passing yards rank fifth in AF history and his 11 TD passes tied for the ninth most in school history. As a senior, he was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week three teams, earned an ESPN Helmet Sticker and was named Air Force's game MVP at the Armed Forces Bowl, producing over 200 yards total offense and three total touchdowns.
In a win over Fresno State, he posted one of the greatest games ever by a Falcon quarterback. He scored a career-high four rushing touchdowns and five total against the Bulldogs. His four rushing TDs tie as the third-most ever in a game by an Air Force quarterback. Roberts also caught the first touchdown pass of his career to record his fifth touchdown of the game. Roberts' 30 points scored are the second most in school history and most since Dee Dowis set the school record of 36 vs. San Diego State Sept. 2, 1989.
A mechanical engineering major at the Academy, Roberts was part of the FalconSAT program as a cadet. He went on to earn his master's degree in astronautical engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2018. In 2021, he transferred to Space Force and he is currently the chief of operations, Rapid Reaction Branch, stationed at Peterson SFB, Colo.
