U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – A pair of Falcons were named to the 2025 At-Large Academic All-America team, selected by College Sports Communicators. The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
Guy Blessing, a 2025 graduate from the ice hockey team, earned third-team honors while Cole Cunningham, a rising senior from the lacrosse team, earned second team honors.
Blessing carried a 3.80 GPA as an astronautical engineering major. The CSC Academic All-America honor is the first of his career. He is the ninth Falcon hockey player to earn the honor. The Falcon hockey team has had a CSC Academic All-American each of the last three seasons. Blessing was a four-time member of the Atlantic Hockey America all-academic team. A goalie from Chandler, Ariz., he started 39 of the 40 games last season and led the nation in minutes played. He had a 2.48 GAA and a .907 saves percentage last season. He became the sixth goalie in Air Force's conference era to record more than 2,000 career saves and is the fifth goalie in school history to play 100 or more career games.
Cunningham, was tabbed ASUN Conference Specialist of the Year as one of the conference's elite long stick midfielders. Cunningham, an All-ASUN first-teamer, led all Falcons in ground balls (85) and caused turnovers (17), ranking third and fifth in the ASUN, respectively. Cunningham, who appeared in every game of the season, helped the Falcons to a share of the ASUN Regular Season title, an ASUN Tournament title, and Air Force's first visit to the NCAA Tournament since 2017. An Academic All-ASUN selection, Cunningham boasts the team's highest GPA for the academic season (3.90). He is the first Air Force lacrosse player to earn CSC Academic All-America honors.
To be considered for CSC All-Academic, the student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. They must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. The athletes must have earned CSC Academic All-District honors and also meet a competition/games played threshold for eligibility, specific to each sport.
