AFXC Men Win Ted Castaneda Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Backed by four of the top-five finishers – and all five scoring runners placing within the top eight, the Air Force men's cross country team easily won the Ted Castaneda Classic this morning (Sept. 27) in Colorado Springs. The Falcons tallied just 22 points to win the six-team event at Monument Valley Park.
Junior Joseph White paced the Falcons in the win, as he clocked a time of 25:05.40 – the fourth-fastest 8K by an Air Force runner on Colorado soil – to finish second in the 52-runner event. Classmate Roman Thomas placed third with a 25:12.12 finish, while senior Ashton Higgerson and sophomore Patrick Allen rounded out the Falcons' list of top-five finishers, as they placed fourth (25:14.93) and fifth (25:29.82), respectively. Freshman Josh Shriver completed the squad's scoring lineup, as he finished eighth after completing the circuit around Monument Valley Park in a time of 25:49.19.
Overall, the Falcons place sixth in the top 10, as freshman Bryce Denton added a 10th-place time of 26:05.56. Classmate Auge Martin also raced at MVP on Saturday, clocking a time of 26:50.05 to finish 22nd.
The Falcons are back in action on Oct. 10, when they travel to Springfield, Ore., for the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
