U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Air Force Wrestling Head Coach Joe Johnston announced today that assistant Coach Elroy Perkin has been elevated from his role as the program's third assistant coach to a full-time Coach and Physical Education Instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
In his expanded role, Coach Perkin will continue to serve as the program's Head Air Force Regional Training Center Coach and Assistant Recruiting Coordinator, responsibilities that have been instrumental in supporting the continued growth and success of the program. He will also take on teaching responsibilities in the Air Force Physical Education Department.
As Head AFRTC Coach, Perkin will continue to oversee the program's RTC activities and play an important role in developing the next generation of competitors. He will also maintain his responsibilities as Assistant Recruiting Coordinator, helping lead the program's recruiting efforts and building relationships with prospective Cadet-athletes and their families.
The transition to a full-time USAFA employee represents an important step in Coach Perkin's continued role with the program and provides greater opportunity to contribute to the development of Air Force Academy Cadet athletes both on and off the mat.
