
Leggett & Sturgeon Earn KAP7 WCC Men’s Water Polo Weekly Honors

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior utility Tom Leggett and freshman goalkeeper Wyatt Sturgeon took home the KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo weekly awards for games played the week of Sept. 7-13, announced today by the conference office. Leggett earned WCC Men's Water Polo Player of the Week and Sturgeon earned WCC Men's Water Polo Freshman of the Week.
This is the seventh WCC player of the week award for Leggett and the first WCC freshman award for Sturgeon.
Leggett (Santa Barbara, Calif,) tallied 23 goals and nine assists for 32 points in leading the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 record at the Fullerton Tournament in Fullerton, Calif.
The utility scored six goals in the win over Redlands and three goals and one assist in the win over Chapman. On Sunday, Leggett erupted for 12 points on nine goals and three assists in the win over host Cal State Fullerton. He followed it up by tallying 10 points on five goals and five assists in the double-overtime win over Concordia-Irvine. His goal with 58 seconds left in regulation tied the game and sent the Falcons to overtime.
Sturgeon (Lake Oswego, Ore.) recorded 40 saves and sported a 10.27 goals-allowed average, as he logged all 134 minutes in front of the net for Air Force.
The freshman posted 10 saves and three steals in the win over Redlands. Against Chapman, Sturgeon allowed a season-low five goals, on seven saves and three steals. He had 11 saves in the win over CSUF and 12 in the double OT win over CUI.
Air Force returns to action Thursday, Sept. 24, hosting Navy.
