USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis opened day one play at the 2026 ITA Bedford Cup In The Mountains this Friday, Sept. 18, at the Air Force Outdoor Intercollegiate Tennis Courts. Air Force picked up 12 wins on the day.
Playing the Dominant Duo format, the pairing of junior Langdon Tingleaf and freshman Muyang Yi advanced to the quarterfinals in the main draw.
Air Force opened the morning with three pairs advancing to the round of 16.
Freshmen Daniel Tonkal and Sebastian Mazur opened with a sweep of Andrew Lavine (UNM)/Beckham Bulter (WSU). The pair won the doubles match 6-3. Tonakal then defeated Butler in straight sets, as did Mazur over Lavine.
Tyler Leaird and Caden Lee took two of three to advance over Mason McCarty/Jacob Watkins of Montana. The pair won the doubles match 6-4. Leaird won his singles match over Watkins in three sets. Tingleaf and Yi had a bye in the opening round.
The pairs of Alec Fritzinger/Jaden Woller-Li, Kai Stolaruk/Gavin Maddan and Matthew Staton/Caleb Chow dropped their opening rounds, but came away with singles wins by Stolaruk and Chow.
In the round of 16, Tingleaf and Yi swept all three matches against Andre Steward/Eddie Biss of Montana State. The pair won doubles 6-3. Tingleaf won his singles match over Stewart by taking the 10-point tiebreaker and Yi won defeated Biss in straight sets.
Air Force tallied three doubles wins and nine singles wins on the day.
Day two action resumes tomorrow beginning at 9 am with the third and fourth rounds of play.
