"This was an exciting event for our fencers," according to assistant coach Bob Taylor. "All of our fencers were able to get good experience under their belt and the younger fencers really stepped up and showed the promise they bring to the team."
Head coach Abdel Salem and the teams have two events under their belts. The next competition is the New Mexico Open. Previously, the fencers have been very successful at New Mexico in all three weapons. Salem expects this year's team to be just as successful.
The New Mexico Open in Santa Fe is scheduled for Oct. 23-24.
